As a child this was my favorite hangout when my mother needed me out of her hair for a few safe hours. As an adult, born and raised here, it was my favorite historical landmark. George Merrick had great plans for this magnificent structure, but they were never realized. Coral Gables' mayor & commissioners, none of whom have roots here, realized their dream for the Coliseum...tear it down and build a short-lived Service Merchandise.
